Class: James Joyce’s Ulysses

September 23, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

A profile of a somewhat pensive and moody looking Joyce in a dark overcoat.

8 sessions. Mondays September 23, October 7, 14, 21, 28, November 4, 11, 18.

Widely considered the most influential (and perhaps the greatest) novel of the twentieth century, Joyce’s 1922 masterpiece is a feast of comic invention and linguistic exuberance. Famous for its multi-layered stream-of-consciousness innovations, it is at its simplest one day in the life of three Dubliners: Leopold Bloom, Molly Bloom, and Stephen Dedalus on June 16, 1904. The course is ideal for anyone who always wished to tackle Joyce’s novel in a fun yet focused class that emphasizes his essentially comic and humane vision of life.
