6 sessions. Mondays September 23, 30, Oct 7, 14, 21, 28.
This course offers a survey of the unique and important role played by Irish people (both Catholics and Protestants) in the founding of Minnesota, 1850-1920. The relationship of the Irish to other immigrant groups, including the “Yankee” establishment, and the disproportionate influence of the Irish in early Minnesota history will be emphasized.
