At 5pm, dress up and join us for drinks in our remodeled lobby and gallery space, enjoy a private viewing of Maureen Fleming’s Wildfires photography installation, and meet Miss Sarah Keating, new Vice Consul General to the Chicago Consulate!

Sarah Keating was born in Limerick, Ireland. She attended primary and secondary school locally, in the Mercy of Convent Primary School, Cappamore, Co. Limerick and St Joseph’s Secondary School Doon, Co. Limerick. Sarah obtained an undergraduate degree in Law and Irish from University College Cork and subsequently a Masters of Law from the University of Limerick. During her undergraduate studies Sarah completed internships with Conradh na Gaeilge (organisation which promotes the Irish language) and the Press Ombudsman of Ireland. Sarah joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2017, having worked previously in Zara clothing store and the Law Reform Commission of Ireland. Her first assignment was to the Human Rights Unit where she served as the Irish Delegate to the EU Working Party on Human Rights and also had the honour of delivering a national statement on behalf of Ireland at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Before her move to the Consulate, Sarah had never visited Chicago, although she previously completed a J1 in Boston. Sarah has plenty of family already based in the US, mainly around New York.

At 6pm, learn about the impact of CJAC’s four arms – Event, Classes, Library, and Outreach – through an entertaining and interactive program with music, laughs, Irish language, and dance.
