Scottish fiddle with Brandon Vance

Scottish fiddling, including the Scots snap, birl, and the stylistic principles governing the strathspey and the traditional “MSR” or March, Strathspey and Reel set.  The aim is to help students not only learn new repertoire and skills, but to gain a greater understanding of the cultural and historical forces that have shaped the Scottish fiddling tradition.

French in origin – though easily mistaken for Irish musicians – this sextet (guitar, bodhrán, violin, tin whistle, accordion/vocals, bass) brings a fresh approach to Irish music. Inspired by the purest tradition, Doolin’ combines instrumentals, vocals and original compositions in a resolutely modern style.
