“Yes, the newspapers were right: snow was general all over Ireland.” Celebrated as one of the greatest examples of the genre, this classic and richly comic short story offers an indelible portrait of Dublin hospitality, compassion, and humor. Entering into the spirit of the story by dressing up in fashion from the era is not required, but has been known to happen.

Any edition of Dubliners will work, but we’ll only be reading “The Dead” – its concluding story.
