Gaelic Games
Introduction:
Gaelic games (Irish: Cluichà Gaelacha) are a set of sports that originated in Ireland and are now played worldwide. They include Gaelic football, hurling, Gaelic handball and rounders. All these sports are promoted by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) which was founded in 1884. Women's versions of hurling, called camogie, and Gaelic football are also played. The GAA organizes leagues for mens hurling and Gaelic football which are the two most popular. The women's versions and the other sports have leagues organized by outside goups closely tied to the GAA.
