Gallery Showing: Watercolors by Yvonne Foster
April 20 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
This body of work is a retrospective of the many different styles and mediums the artist has painted over the years. It includes the fields of Wisconsin where she grew up; the shores of Lake Superior where she had a summer home; and even Ireland where she visited frequently. The show will remain up through May 1. Free to the public.
As an artist, I prefer painting from memory or imagination which allows me to be more abstract. In this exhibit, however you will see a retrospective of my watercolors, oils, and pastels many worked from photographs I took and painted in the studio.
They record a life spent growing up in the beautiful Driftless area of Wisconsin, tending my gardens and family in Minneapolis. enjoying our summer home in Lake Superior and our many trips to my husband’s home in Ireland,
In the studio I like to paint in a series of related images on the same subject each attempting to evoke a different emotion or perspective through color and /or different media. This exhibit may show you only one of a series but many different mediums.
And as Michelangelo once said, ‘I am still learning.’
