The Vox Hunters in Concert
June 1 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
POSTPONED until sometime in April due to unforeseen circumstances. We will keep you updated, until then, we’re just going to push the date back on this event. Sorry to make you wait!
Hailing from the great state of Rhode Island, Armand Aromin and Benedict Gagliardi are seekers and singers of old songs, cultivators of local music, and chronic multi-instrumentalists. They are touted as strong tradition-bearers in their generation, and their genuine affinity for the music is evident in the emotion they draw from it. With a pair of oft-harmonizing voices tastefully garnished with fiddle, free-reeds, and tenor guitar, The Vox Hunters offer an all-natural connection to the living tradition of folk music. Free on Facebook Live.
For the past few years, The Vox Hunters have been digging up broadside ballads, historical songs, lyrical poetry, and local ditties and tunes in songbooks, tune collections, old manuscripts, and library databases. Their mission is to uncover and revive Rhode Island’s musical heritage and hopefully bring old Ocean State songs and tunes back into public consciousness. Aside from the sleuthing and tracking down of these songs, this process also often requires reinterpretation of out-dated lyrics and unsure melodies from field recordings, fitting words to tunes, and elaborating on incomplete sources.
