Solstice Sing with Charlie Heymann

December 20, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free
Solstice Sing

Before the time of St. Patrick, Winter Solstice (the longest night and shortest day of the year) was the winter celebration in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales of the sun’s return (longer days and shorter nights). Charlie Heymann’s Solstice Sing program this year will present songs touching on themes of light, darkness, old, new, hope and despair—all especially apt for the end of this tumultuous year!

For the past 45 years, Charlie has sung Irish, Scottish, and Welsh songs in those languages, as well as in English, with his harper wife, Ann, as Clairseach. However, for this Solstice Sing Charlie will be solo, accompanying himself with cittern, concertina, button accordion, and guitar.

This musical feast will be presented via Zoom webinar. Lyrics will all be shared with you so you can sing along with Charlie from home. Registrants will receive a Zoom link on the day of the event. RSVP at the bottom of this page – just one registrant per email. (As many people can huddle around the warm glow of your chosen screen, of course!)

This event is free. Donations can be given directly to the artist via Charlie Heymann’s Paypal.
