The trio play regularly as part of touring acts Téada and Irish Christmas in America, having first come together as part of the sean-nós dance show Atlantic Steps, and represent a style of music rooted primarily in the North West of Ireland.
Sligo fiddler Oisín Mac Diarmada, founder of noted group Téada, has been described by The Irish Echo’s Earle Hitchner as “one of the most gifted and creative traditional fiddlers playing today”. Along with Sligo accordionist, Daithí Gormley, Oisín has recently published ‘Fiddlers of Sligo Tunebook’, a fascinating introduction to the rich history of Sligo fiddle playing.
Detroit uilleann piper and flute player, Seán Gavin, is one of the most highly regarded Irish musicians of his generation. His recent recording, a collaboration with fiddler Jesse Smith, accompanist John Blake, and bodhran player Johnny “Ringo” McDonagh was hailed by The Irish Echo as “traditional music at its best!” Seán tours regularly with the groups Bua and Téada, both of which have gleaned top praise from Irish music critics around the globe.
Patrick Doocey from Foxford, Co. Mayo is quickly becoming one of the most in demand accompanists on the Irish music scene today. Predominately self-taught on guitar, Patrick’s exciting style on both nylon and steel string guitar combines influences from many genres including jazz, hip hop, r n b, and rock. His talents can be heard on Lunasa’s latest release “Cas” as well as on recent albums with Kevin Crawford, Dylan Foley, and Colin Farrell.
