Join Alisa Mee and Lavinia Finnerty for Irish Storytime – a bilingual storytime in Irish and English for children aged birth to five and their families, including rhymes and songs from the Center for Irish Music’s Celtic Cuties class. This free event is co-presented by the Center for Irish Music (CIM) and Celtic Junction Arts Center (CJAC) as part of the 2020 Irish Arts Week.
Presenters:

Center for Irish Music logoAlisa Mee, an instructor at the Center for Irish Music, is a fiddler and early childhood music teacher who embarked on the Irish music journey while living in Galway with her husband, a native of Dublin. She particularly values the community-building aspect of the Irish music tradition, and strives to encourage family and community music-making.  Alisa, who teaches the CIM’s Celtic Cuties and Singing Sweeties classes, also works at the St. Paul Public Library – specializing in storytime and children’s services.

Irish language weekend at ICM

Lavinia Finnerty. From the Gaeltacht region of Connemara, Lavinia Finnerty is an energetic advocate for the Irish language. She teaches Irish language literature, Irish Language Children’s Books, and listening/speaking/grammar skills at the Irish College of Minnesota in the Celtic Junction’s McKiernan Library, focusing particularly on preparing students for Maynooth University’s internationally accredited TEG (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge) exams in comprehending and speaking the Irish language.
