All courses in the spring quarter will be offered online through Zoom videoconferencing and learning software at the time scheduled. The instructor will email the meeting link to registered students. While it isn’t necessary to have Zoom downloaded on your laptop/computer, it will increase the quality of the video conference if you do. Zoom is easy, fun,  and free to use!

O’Shaughnessy Poetry Prize Winner Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh

Understanding the poetry of Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh

Winner of the annual O'Shaughnessy Poetry Award 2020 given by the Center for Irish Studies at the University of St. Thomas, Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh is a bilingual poet who composes both in Irish and English. Deepen your knowledge, appreciation, and comprehension of the Irish language by reading selections from her poetry. The instructor will supply readings of her work. 

[Note: She was to be visiting St. Paul to receive her award, and to actively participate in the 2020 Irish Arts Week at Celtic Junction. All events are currently on hold.]

European Certificate in Irish/TEG (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge)

Adult learners - from experienced beginners to intermediate learners - undertake a structured curriculum to prepare them for the only internationally recognized general Irish language proficiency exam for adults. This course is designed for the A1 level.

Derived from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the TEG Certificate in Irish originates in Ireland’s Maynooth University and is administered annually in specific cities in Ireland, Europe, Canada, and the U.S.

The TEG A1 oral examination will be held at the Celtic Junction in the near future!

Cúrsa Úllmhúcháin do Scrúduithe TEG (Teastas Eorpach n Gaeilge)

Foghlaimeoirí fásata- beidh deis ag foghlaimeoirí le roinnt taithí go foghlaimeoirí idirmheánacha ullmhú don Scrúdú Idirnaisiúnta do dhaoine fásta. Tá an cúrsa seo dírithe ar an leibhéal A1. 

Tá scrúduithe TEG bunaithe go ginearálta ar an Fráma Tagartha Comónta Eorpach do Theangacha (Comhairle na hEorpa, 2001). Tá Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge eagraithe ag TEG i Lárionad na Gaeilge in Ollscoil Mhá Nuad. Bíonn na scrúduithe ar siúl in Éirinn, san Eoraip,i gCeanada, agus sna Stáit Aontaithe. 

Beidh Scrúdú béil an TEG, A1, anseo sa CJAC sa todhchaí.

Ros na Rύn

Watching, Listening and Discussing an Irish Soap Opera: Ros na Rύn. One of the best ways to grasp a language is to pay attention to its popular cultural forms. The famous Irish language drama or “soap,” Ros na Rύn will provide students a fun opportunity to discuss the daily conundrums of life – between love and relationships, business and family, neighbors who agree and disagree, and much more.

Breathnú, Éisteacht agus Pléigh an Sobalchláir Gaeilge: Ros na Rύn. Bealach iontach le dul i dtaithí ar theanga nó aird a thabhairt ar imeachtaí cultúrtha an lae. Tabhairfaidh an dráma cáiliúil Gaeilge nó “sobalchlár,” Ros na Rύn, deis spraíúil do na daltaí ceisteanna móra an tsaoil a phléigh – idir chúrsaí grá agus caidrimh, gnó agus teaghlaigh, comharsana a bheith in éadan a chéile agus mór le chéile, agus go leor eile.
