Blessing and Curses in Irish

Irish Blessings and Curses

One can curse in Irish in devastating fashion without being crude. Yet one can also wish one well with unparalleled elegance and economy of words. “May your path be always safe.”

There are no limits to the language mastery in this literary jewel,  with expressions that are sought after, and curious phrases that can delight or upset an acquaintance.

Beginning and returning students in this morning class will immerse themselves in this rich yet accessible world of quirky and idiosyncratic language use.

Beannachtaí agus Mallachtaí na Gaeilge

Is féidir le duine mallacht a úsáid chun clú nó croí duine a bhriseadh, gan a bheith amhlabhrach. Mar sin féin is féidir beannacht a thabhairt do dhuine le galántacht agus easpa focail. “Cosán gan col agat.”

Níl aon teorainn leis an máistreacht teanga atá le fáil sna seoda liteartha seo, cainteanna a bhfuil tóir orthu i saoil an teanga Gaeilge, agus frásaí greannmhar a chuireann olc nó áthas ar dhuine.

Ar maidin, beidh tosaitheoirí agus foghlaimeoirí a bhfuil taithí acu ar fhoghlaim na Gaeilge in ann tumadh i dteanga saibhir agus spraíúil, ina bhfuil imeartas focail agus teanga leithleachas fite fuaite i dteanga ársa na Gaeilge.

4 sessions. Thursday 9:15 – 10.15 a.m. January 30, February 6, 13, and 20.

Class fee

  • $72 discounted rate when you pay online. Help with online payment will be available at the first class.
  • $80 by cash or check (made out to 'Celtic Junction Arts Center') at the first class.
