Irish language Children’s Books

Deepen your knowledge, appreciation, and comprehension of the Irish language by reading plainly written selections from its children’s books. The instructor will supply readings of accessible Irish language short stories.

6 sessions. Tuesday 6:30-7:45 p.m. September 24, October 1, 8, 15, 22, Nov 5. Class fee: $120 at the door on Sept. 24; $108 if you email the instructor to pre-register. Online payment reflects the discounted rate; we ask that you still email to confirm.

Writing Poetry in Irish

One of the best ways to grasp a language is to both read and write poetry through its medium. This class will expose students to simple models of Irish poetry and encourage rough drafts and no-pressure original composition. It will be fun!

No Sweat Irish 2

Informal Irish for relative beginners of all ages. Perfect for learners who have had some exposure to learning Irish Gaelic (and especially those who have completed No Sweat Irish 1) this fun class features songs, games, and brief role-playing alongside an accessible easy-to-read textbook to make Irish language learning enjoyable.

8 sessions. Wed 6:30-8:00 p.m. Oct 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, Nov 6, 13 and 20.  Class fee: $180 at the door on Sept. 25; $162 if you email the instructor to pre-register. Preparation for the European Certificate in Irish/TEG (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge)

Adult learners - from experienced beginners to intermediate learners - undertake a structured curriculum to prepare them for the only internationally recognized general Irish language proficiency exam for adults in 2020. Derived from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the TEG Certificate in Irish originates in Ireland’s Maynooth University and is administered annually in specific cities in Ireland, Europe, Canada, and the U.S. In 2020, it will be offered on-site at Celtic Junction itself! This course is designed for the A1 level.

8 sessions. Saturday 9:00-11:00 a.m. Sept 28, October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2, 9, 16 and 30 [No class Nov 23].  Class fee: $180 at the door on Sept 28; $162 if you email the instructor to pre-register. Online payment reflects the discounted rate; we ask that you still email to confirm.
