Knotwork and Triskeles for Beginners

Participants will learn several ways to draw interlacing knots based on a grid pattern, as well as basic construction of Triskelle spirals and an introduction to zoomorphic (animal) elements in knotwork. Note: Students should have graph paper, a straight edge ruler and preferred drawing materials (pencils, pens, colored pencils, markers, etc.) If available, a compass/protractor and circle template/french curve tools would also be very useful to have.

3 weeks. Wednesdays. 6:30-8:00 p.m. October 14 - 28.

Drawing Celtic Mythology

Arthurian Myth – Dragons, Giants, and the Lady of the Lake, oh my!  Learn how the haunting and magical gods, goddesses, heroes, magicians, and landscapes of the Celtic realms can be given creative expression and re-interpretation in a class for beginners, returning students who have taken the class before, and enthusiasts at all levels. The principles of formal composition and color theory will be applied to this inspirational mythic and iconic imagery.

3 Sessions Thursdays. 8:00-9:30 p.m. October 15 - 29.

African and Indigenous Connections with Celtic Music and Dance

Are you curious about African and indigenous music and dance?  Would you like to learn how traditional music and dance in North America have been profoundly shaped by the creative mingling of African, Native and Celtic cultures? This Zoom-based seminar explores these topics with the aid of guest lecturers, archival recordings and videos, and instructor performances.
