New Irish language opportunity!

Gael Linn, Aonach Mhacha, and Celtic Junction Arts Center's Education Program are launching an exciting new initiative: Conversation Portal (Portal  Comhrá). The Conversation Portal will create a free transatlantic connection between Irish language learners in Celtic Junction and our sister cultural center, Aonach Mhacha in Armagh city, in county Armagh in Northern Ireland.

Between 2 - 6 students on each side of the Atlantic will enjoy participating in free structured Irish language conversation groups for two levels (Intermediate and Pre-Intermediate). This initiative runs from Tuesday, November 4 at 1:00 p.m. (CST) until December 10 for Pre-Intermediate learners and Wednesday, November 5 until December 11 at 1:00 p.m. (CST) for Intermediate learners for six weeks. Conversation sessions will be on Zoom, will last one hour only, and will have structured topics.
If interested in being part of the Conversation Portal, please email Patrick at education@celticjunction.org

Six students and their teacher after taking the TEG,

Congratulations!

On May 27, 2022, Irish language students took the TEG A1 Irish Oral examination!

On June 12, 2021, a group of Irish language students took the Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (TEG) - the only internationally recognized general Irish language proficiency exam for adults - for the first time ever in Minnesota! The Celtic Junction Arts Center is proud to host this opportunity. Some of the students have been preparing and waiting for the A1 exam for three years and more.

Thank you to Lavinia Finnerty for her leadership, instruction, and patience in getting to this goal!

Derived from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the TEG Certificate in Irish originates in Ireland’s Maynooth University and is administered annually in specific cities in Ireland, Europe, Canada, and the U.S.
